Jiri Prochazka ready to return for UFC title fight with Alex Pereira as early as June: 'I will go for that'

After delivering a couple of noteworthy knockouts at UFC 300, Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira appear to be on a collision course once again.

In November, ‘Poatan’ KO’d Prochazka in the second round of their headliner in MSG to win the vacant light heavyweight title. Since then, Pereira successfully defended his crown with a stellar first-round knockout of Jamahal Hill while ‘BJP’ put away Aleksandar Rakic with an insane come-from-behind finish in the landmark event’s featured prelim.

Those victories appear to have put Pereira and Prochazka on a path that will lead the two back to each other for a summertime scrap.

Speaking with James Lynch on behalf of Bodog Canada, Prochazka revealed that he has not heard anything from the promotion about a potential title opportunity, but he’ll be ready to go as early as June should the UFC decide to lock in the rematch.

“I didn’t heard anything,” Prochazka said. “I just said what I said in the cage after the fight — I want to be the next challenger for the title, and that’s something that is my opinion. Right now it’s up to the UFC, when they want to do this fight because I believe in my win and I will show I am able to take that belt and win in a fight with Alex Pereira.

“I’m waiting to settle this upcoming fight and I still don’t know who, if it will be Alex or who, but I believe the world wants to see that. The world wants to see this fight and I know I have the right weapons to defeat Alex Pereira” (h/t MMA Mania).

Alex Pereira would rather rematch Jiri Prochazka than wait for Magomed Ankalaev

Initially, it appeared as though Pereira’s next fight would be with streaking Russian standout Magomed Ankalaev.

However, the Dagestani would prefer to wait until October when the UFC makes its annual pit stop in Abu Dhabi. ‘Poatan’ has no interest in waiting that long, making Jiri Prochazka a prime target for his next title defense.

“Perfect time for me right now is to take two, three weeks, just a little bit of rest,” Prochazka added. “Take some inspiration. And right now I know what to do in preparation [for] the next [fight], especially for a fight with Alex. But, it’s still about my manager to confirm that. I think about August. July, August, or something like that. October maybe. Doesn’t matter. For me it doesn’t matter.

“If they want for me to fight in some short way, I will do that. I will go for that. If [UFC 303 in June] would be accepted by Alex, I will do that. I will go that.”

Don’t book those parlays just yet…

Michel Pereira claims he’s not fighting Roman Dolidze in the UFC Louisville middleweight co-main event, despite previous reports that put “Demolidor” in the June 8 lineup for the promotion’s return to the KFC Yum! Center in Kentucky.

“I didn’t accept that fight,” Pereira said on Instagram. “That man, he trains with me every day. He trains with me at UFC PI, he trains at Xtreme Couture, got it? He accepted and I didn’t. For me, now is not the time to fight him. If he accepted, that’s his problem. I was even surprised when he accepted. I said if it was someone else, I’d take it.”

UFC CEO Dana White has repeatedly warned fighters that matchmakers will not book around their personal (or professional) relationships, leading to a debate about whether or not MMA is a team sport or every person for themselves.

“As it is with him, now is not the time to fight him yet,” Pereira continued. “For me, he was my friend, my training partner, for me in my head. But I saw then, that he’s not. Like me and him, since we train at the same gym, I’d have to look for another gym to train at. I’d have to organize myself to do a fight with him.”

Dolidze has yet to comment on Pereira’s refusal to fight.

UFC megastar Conor McGregor ordered to disclose his earnings from Proper No. 12 sale

Conor McGregor has not one, but two big fights right around the corner.

On Saturday, June 29, McGregor will return to the Octagon for the first time in nearly three years when he meets former Bellator MMA champion ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler in the UFC 303 main event.

Today, the Irishman’s net worth is estimated to be over $200 million — a majority of that coming from the sale of his popular brand of Irish whiskey, Proper No. 12. Selling a majority stake to Proximo Spirits for $600 million in 2021, McGregor and everyone involved in the product became very rich.

Conor McGregor

Well, maybe not everyone.

McGregor’s longtime friend and former UFC fighter Artem Lobov has brought legal action against the former two-division champion, claiming that he was promised a 5% stake in Proper No. 12, but never received any money from the sale. McGregor reportedly offered Lobov a flat $1 million which ‘The Russian Hammer’ declined.

Artem Lobov could be entitled to $20 million from the sale of Conor McGregor’s Proper No. 12

As a result, McGregor is being forced to disclose his earnings to the Dublin High Court by Friday, May 10 per a report from The Irish Sun.

McGregor is said to have banked roughly $140 million from the sale. If Lobov successfully makes his argument, he could walk away with 5% of the $600 million the whiskey brand sold for — or $20 million.

Lobov had also filed a lawsuit against Conor McGregor for defamation after ‘Mystic Mac’ dubbed him a “rat” during a social media rant in 2022. However, the Dublin High Court cleared the Irisman of any wrongdoing and closed the case.

Darren Till eyes imminent boxing debut fight I will batter every one of yas

Former UFC fighter Darren Till says he will be boxing soon and plans to box multiple times in 2024.

Till hasn’t fought since December of 2022 when he lost to Dricus Du Plessis and he was released by the promotion, as he asked for it. The Brit wanted to get healthy and turn his attention to boxing, but Mike Perry has claimed Till has turned down a $2 million offer to fight him in BKFC.

Taking to his Instagram, Till shared a video of him hitting he mitts and vowed to batter everyone that has called him out.

“A lot of people been calling me out lately,” he wrote on an Instagram video of him working the mitts. “And I’m going to f*****g batter every last one of yas.”

Back in April, Till was on a podcast and revealed he’s interested in the influencer boxing matches due to how much money they are making.

“Influencers, fighters, it’s going to be a slash,” Till said regarding his future opponents. “If I’m looking at a professional boxing fight and getting paid thirty, forty grand, and then looking at these influencer fights where they’re generating millions? I’m a big name as well. It’s just a no-brainer to take that kind of fights. So, they’re the fights we’re targeting, your Tommy Furys, your Jake Pauls.”

Darren Till still wants Mike Perry fight

Along with boxing influencers, the one fight that Darren Till really wants is to fight Mike Perry.

Till and Perry have taken shots at one another while both were in the UFC, and many fans wanted to see it. But, it never came to fruition. Over the last couple of years, the thought of them fighting has continued and Till says it is a bout that will happen at some point.

“Obviously the biggest fight I want is Mike Perry,” he said. “Me and him are destined to fight. It’s been … six years? [Jorge] Masvidal was talking the other day about fighting me, getting that rematch. On home soil, he said he’d come to Liverpool. So, these are all massive fights, and as soon as I have my first fight announced I’ll be chasing all that.”

Darren Till is currently 18-5-1 in MMA and is on a three-fight losing streak while being 1-5 in his last six fights.
